Short Bio

Carlos Castells is a PhD candidate at the University of Zaragoza. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Zaragoza. He received the Extraordinary Award for both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

His research interests lie primarily in mutual funds, sustainable finance and behavioural finance. His current research examines portfolio transparency and disclosure practices among conventional and ESG mutual funds. He also studies investor overconfidence in financial markets, with particular interest in its effects on trading behaviour, risk-taking, investment performance and market outcomes.

Professionally, he has developed experience in financial operations, project control, cost analysis and reporting in international environments, including the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and the European Space Agency (ESA). His work has combined financial analysis with project management, budgeting, process improvement and data analysis.
