Short Bio

Begoña Gutiérrez-Nieto is a Full Professor in Finance and an associate researcher at the Institute on Employment, Digital Society and Sustainability (IEDIS) at the University of Zaragoza. She is also an Associate Researcher at the Centre for European Research in Microfinance (CERMi) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).

Her research spans microfinance, social finance, social impact valuation, and behavioural finance. She has authored several research articles and books on microfinance, and served as co-editor-in-chief of the Iberoamerican Journal of Development Studies. Her work has received significant recognition, including the Finance and Sustainability European Research Award (UN PRI, 2017) and multiple prizes for her doctoral research on microfinance in Spain.
