Short Bio
Cristina Ortiz is an Associate Professor in the Accounting and Finance Department and an associate researcher at the Institute on Employment, Digital Society and Sustainability (IEDIS) at the University of Zaragoza. She leads the FINSOCIAL action group – Financial Inclusion, Sustainability and Rural Development, recognized by Campus Iberus of International Excellence, and GEDUFIN – Financial Education Teaching Innovation Group, affiliated with the Center for Innovation, Training, and Research in Education Sciences (CIFICE). She is also a member of the Behavioural Finance Working Group (BFWG) in the UK.
Her doctoral thesis, “Behavioural Finance: Application to Investors and Managers of Spanish Mutual Funds”, received the European Doctoral Mention and was published by an international editorial. She has been teaching at degree and master’s level since 2006, has co-supervised a doctoral thesis on behavioural biases of mutual fund managers, and has participated in several national research projects and two transfer projects with INVERCO and ADICAE.
Her main research interests are asset management and behavioural finance, with a focus on mutual funds and pension funds, and sustainable finance. Her publications appear in journals indexed in the Social Science Citation Index, including Journal of Banking and Finance, Finance Research Letters, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, and Research in International Business and Finance.
In management roles, she served on the Research Commission of the University of Zaragoza, as secretary professor of the Accounting and Finance Department for nearly two years, and subsequently as Vice Head of the same department for the three following years.
