Short Bio
Juan Camón Cala holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Zaragoza, the same institution where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in the same field. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management of Social Economy Organizations.
His professional experience includes serving as a territorial coordinator in a financial services company, as well as several positions in non-governmental organizations. Throughout his career, he has specialized in consultancy and support for cooperatives and non-profit entities.
As a researcher, his work focuses on the social and financial aspects of economics, with a specific emphasis on social impact valuation, social entrepreneurship, and cooperativism. In 2017, he was a joint recipient of the "Finance and Sustainability European Research Award" for the Best Published Research Article, granted by the French SIF (Forum pour l’Investissement Responsable) and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
Furthermore, he has received two regional research awards: one granted by the Economic and Social Council of Aragon (CESA) for his contribution to the study "Analysis of the capacities, actions, and reactions of the Aragonese social economy to the economic crisis. A first approach"; and in 2011, he was individually awarded the "Zaragoza Provincia: Cuarto Espacio" research prize for the project "Ecological production and consumption in Zaragoza Province: effects of zero-kilometer distribution."
